Laser Hair Removal and Electrolysis

by: Nigel Green

Millions and millions of people around the world, male and female, remove unwanted and excessive hair from their faces and body everyday. There are many options and methods to consider.

Hair removal tends to fall into two main categories; non-permanent hair removal (shaving and depilatory creams to mention a few) and permanent hair removal (electrolysis and laser hair removal). As lifestyles change and become more demanding, and as technology develops, permanent methods have become more and more popular, especially laser hair removal, which was the most desired cosmetic treatment in a 2010 survey.

Laser hair removal and electrolysis are similar in that both methods destroy the hair at the root - the hair follicle. What differ between the two methods is the technology and procedures involved and also the time it takes to become permanently hair free.

Electrolysis can be very time consuming and painful. The procedure used during electrolysis treatments usually concentrates on one hair follicle at a time. The procedure consists of a metal probe being inserted into the hair follicle. Once the metal probe has been inserted into the hair follicle, it releases an electronic current or charge. This damages the hair follicle which is then unable to produce hair. Due to the invasive procedure of inserting a metal probe into the follicle, electrolysis is usually painful and uncomfortable. The procedure cannot be carried out very quickly and therefore appointments can be long and tiresome. Providing treatments are carried out following the treatment plan, the average timescale for becoming hair free on one area using electrolysis is 10-12 months.

Soprano XL LHR is a non-invasive and pain free, permanent treatment. This treatment can be safely carried out on any area of the face and body, including the sensitive and hard to reach areas. Laser hair removal using the Soprano XL uses light energy that passes safely through the skin and is absorbed by the hair follicle as heat. The heat affects the hair follicle in such a way that results in the follicle being unable to produce hair again.

Unlike electrolysis, which concentrates on one hair follicle at a time, laser hair removal simultaneously concentrates on a great number of follicles at one time making the procedure quick and easy. Treatments do not take a long time, in fact treatments to the top lip and chin area can be completed in 5 minutes, the underarms 10 minutes, bikini area 20 minutes and so on. Results can be noticed after one treatment and providing the treatments are carried out following the treatment plan, the timescale for becoming hair free can be as quickly as 5-6 months. Due to the noticeable difference in appointment times and hair free timescales, the popularity of laser hair removal has increased greatly and has become an option which can fit into everybody's lifestyle whilst also giving them the results they desire.

A summary of a study published in 'Dermatologic Surgery' in 2000 showed the differences found between twelve patients using both treatments in twenty four areas of the body. It stated that while LHR may be more expensive than electrolysis, it is sixty times faster and less painful in comparison to electrolysis and more patients experienced more favourable results with laser hair removal and now with the soprano XL it is completely pain-free.

Mineral Cosmetics VS Traditional Cosmetics

by: Bryan Chase

Mineral Cosmetics VS Traditional Cosmetics

Mineral make-up has been around for more than thirty years already. However, it is only recently that mineral cosmetics boomed into the beauty market.

But what exactly is mineral make-up?

Mineral make-up or mineral cosmetics are products that are made up of all-natural, finely ground minerals that can be found on the earth. Unlike traditional make-up, this variety doesn't contain any chemicals, nor any unnatural dyes, and preservatives. Like traditional cosmetics, mineral cosmetics come in various forms and prices. However, the most popular among this kind of cosmetics, are the loose powder foundations and blushes. These powders are light and finely ground loose minerals that are used on the skin with a wide, fluffy brush. The prices range from an affordable $10 to a more luxurious $50 per product.

What's great about mineral cosmetics is that it's light, natural, and long-lasting. These effects cannot be duplicated by any other kind cosmetics. The main ingredients of mineral cosmetics are mica, zinc oxide, and titanium oxide.

Mineral Cosmetics VS Traditional Cosmetics

Mineral cosmetics, like any other kind of cosmetics, can cause skin problems. However, because it eliminates the irritants - like fragrances, binders, preservatives, and synthetic dyes - in traditional make-up, it can be milder and kinder to one's skin. Because make-up sensitivity is usually caused by synthetic dyes, preservatives, and fragrances, any kind of make-up that doesn't include these in its composition, also eliminates the problem.

Also, titanium-oxide and zinc oxide are both minerals that contain anti-inflammatory properties. So this kind of make-up has a calming effect on the skin, which is really important if you have skin problems like acne or rosacea. Mineral cosmetics are also non-comedogenic. This means that it doesn't clog pores and doesn't aggravate any acne condition that a person may have. It doesn't also cause a flare-up as easily as other cosmetics can.

Another thing that's great with mineral cosmetics is that it has a level of sun protection. Because of the two main ingredients previously mentioned, mineral cosmetics have a protective effect against the harmful rays of the sun. Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide are both ingredients found in traditional sunscreen. However, putting on mineral make-up doesn't complete you completely. Thus, you need to put regular cream sunscreen under your make-up for maximum protective boost.

However, consumers need to know that not all mineral cosmetics are the same. Actually, they fall into two general types: first are those mineral cosmetics that go out of their way to take care not to use any kind of synthetics, like paraben preservatives and other fillers, so as to stay true to the first and primary intent of providing pure, mineral cosmetics; second are those that add some fillers, binders, colors, preservatives, and other chemicals into their mixture.

Outstanding Women in Business

by: Tamar Peters

Old hurdles such as gender barriers have practically been overcome. This is clearly seen in the business world where men and women are sharing opportunities and responsibilities based on qualifications and not gender. In fact, women have contributed greatly to developments in business.

Let's take a brief look at three such notable women in business; a world-class CEO, an innovative entrepreneur, and a leading consultant, and see how they have helped shape the business world as we know it today.

Carol Bartz (Yahoo!, CEO)

In 2010, CEOs of fifteen Fortune 500 companies were women. One of these influential women in business is Yahoo! President and CEO, Carol Bartz, who became its Chief Executive Officer in early 2009. At that time, Bartz took over the helm of the third most-visited website when its market share was declining. She faced the difficult task of turning the company around and was able to score deals that enabled Yahoo! to maintain and enhance its core business. Despite some expressed doubts that Yahoo!'s position has improved; many believe that Bartz has performed better than expected. Bartz served as CEO at AutoDesk before joining Yahoo!.

Anita Roddick (The Body Shop, founder)

Many successful women in business are also ground-breaking entrepreneurs. One such woman was Anita Roddick, founder of the cosmetics firm, The Body Shop. Roddick started her company in England in 1991 and, over the years, it grew to become the world's second largest beauty products franchise. But The Body Shop is more than just a successful venture; it is a revolutionary way of doing business as well. It was founded on the principles of "ethical consumerism" and fair trading practices, which contributed to the brand's image. Roddick died in 2007.

Linda Solomon (Deloitte Consulting)

Expert women in business can also be found in the consulting industry. Linda Solomon is a leading consultant at Deloitte. Solomon has a considerable consulting career which began in 1990. She now serves as head of the Deloitte's Homeland Security consulting services, which is one of the firm's most important divisions. Solomon has implemented a successful financial optimization program in her sector as well. Solomon was named one of the top 25 consultants in 2010 by ConsultingMag.com.

These three women are only a few examples of how women have influenced the business landscape. This proves that in business competence, not gender, determines success. Women now have better chances of landing in topnotch positions, gone are the days that women are left in their houses to take care of the family home.

Dysmenorrhea Treatment May Really Help You

by: Mario Cora

Dysmenorrhea treatment may really help you if you suffer from this painful and unpleasant condition. Many women experience a feeling of pain just before their period. There are two kinds of this condition that can be experienced which are primary and secondary. Which ever condition you suffer from it can be quite debilitating and disruptive every month.

If you suffer from the primary type of this condition then you probably have severe cramps accompanied by backache and quite possibly feel nauseous. Other symptoms might include having diarrhoea and suffering from headaches. This condition is generally felt by younger woman and can begin within two years of then beginning their periods. They will generally suffer symptoms for a couple of days a month

The other type is the secondary type and this can be a symptom of other medical problems. It can be a symptom of pelvic inflammatory disease or of endometriosis. There is a chance it may also because by pelvic tumours or uterine fibroids. This is a condition that is generally found in older women.

Most women have experience cramps during their period and these can sometimes feel pretty painful. Cramps were caused by the muscles of the uterus contracting and when the spasms are especially strong they can cut off the blood flow to the muscles temporarily. This temporary interruption means the muscles suffer from a lack of oxygen which causes the pain. However these cramps do have a purpose which is to help get rid of menstrual discharge.

Some women may find taking natural medicine an extremely effective way of dealing with this problem as it can help relieve the pain from strong cramps. These natural medicines can be much better than over-the-counter painkillers as they help to deal with the actual cause and do not just mask the symptoms. They may also contain additional ingredients which are anti-inflammatory and also relieve the pain.

They work by helping to improve the muscle tone of the uterus which should prevent the cramps for being so severe. They can also help balance reproductive hormones which produce the severe contractions of the uterus. In addition they will also address other symptoms such as backache and nausea.

It is far better to use a herbal product that contains natural ingredients rather than continually relying on drugs. A good product will use a combination of homoeopathic and herbal Ayurvedic ingredients. This condition can affect up to 75% of women at some stage in their lives. Although it will ease as they age about 5% will suffer incapacitating pain.

This condition may be quite tricky to diagnose. It can be partially diagnosed through a pelvic examination and taking down medical history. However it may be necessary to use other techniques such as laparoscopy and ultrasound. If the patient is discovered to be suffering from endometriosis then it may be necessary for them to receive other treatment.

The treatment will depend on the woman's age and whether or not she has children. In some cases a hysterectomy may be the best course of action. In other cases natural remedies combined with conservative treatment may work. Another alternative is to try a psychoacoustic technology which works on the subconscious mind. It works by sending subliminal messages which influence your brain to release natural painkillers. It does this by employing two different kinds of techniques through the use of sound waves and also ultrasonic. It is a very holistic way of treating the problem and is very non-invasive. It helps by working on your subconscious mind in a natural and gentle manner. Dysmenorrhea treatment need not consist of just drugs.
